  1. A democracy is a way to rule a country in which the leader is chosen by proper voting by the citizens of the country.A democratic country allows its citizens to vote for whoever they think is a good leader. In a non-democratic country/ Monarchy the rule is passed onto the next generation. Pakistan is a democratic country , where people get to choose their leader. Whereas Saudi Arabia does not have democracy and is run by Kings.

  3. democracy in ancient Greece was only practiced in ancient Athens, and only for about 100 years. It was an experiment. The people really liked it. How it worked is that all citizens had to take an active part in government if called on to do so. At this time, citizens were free men. Women, children, and slaves were not citizens, and thus could not participate or vote.

  9. Democracy is an old form of making government. It is a political system in which all citizens including men and women of age 18 and above are given equal rights to choose their leaders to run the country. Different political parties select their candidates to compete in different areas of a country. People of that area vote for their favorite candidate. The party with most candidates voted forms the government. This voting process is called election which is repeated every four or five years. That party chooses the prime minister and ministers in different departments, such as, finance, trade, foreign affairs, etc. Other parties may join the ruling party and form a coalition or play the role of opposition. The ruling party is given four or five years to show good governance. They may or may not be elected in the next election.
