Useful Info on Interrogative Adjectives. Read Carefully.

Interrogative Adjectives – Which Words Come to Mind?

whatBefore we get into interrogative adjectives, let’s take a step back. When you think of an “adjective” what is the first thought that comes to mind?  Yellow flowers?  A beautiful sunset? A fast car?  In the preceding examples, the role the adjectives “flower,” “beautiful,” and “fast” is attributive, meaning they modify or describe a noun (or a pronoun). They paint a nice picture in our mind.
She filled the vase with yellow flowers.
beautiful sunset marked the end of a perfect day.
John didn’t care what he received for graduation as long as it was a fast car.
Sometimes adjectives are found in the predicate of a sentence.  In this case the adjective describes a preceding noun and is linked to it with a verb.  Like this:
The flowers in the vase are yellow.
The sunset was beautiful.
The car John received for his birthday was fast, just like he wanted.
Though these examples may be the first type of adjective use you think of, there are certainly other, and equally important, kinds of adjectives as well.
Interrogative adjectives are words similar to interrogative pronouns, but they can’t stand on their own.  In other words, they serve to modify another term, specifically a noun.  The words “which” and “what” are the two interrogative adjectives and are used in interrogative sentences to modify nouns found in the question.
Which coat is Paul’s? (“which” is an interrogative adjective that modifies coat)
What CD is Sarah listening to? (“what” is an interrogative adjective that modifies CD)
Interrogative adjectives also modify noun phrases.  For example:
Which vitamins should be taken every day?
What program are you watching?

Interactive Quiz on Reflexive Pronouns!

Reflexive Pronouns:
We use reflexive pronouns when the subject and the object of a sentence are the same. Each personal pronoun has its own reflexive pronoun, formed by adding self or selves to the pronoun. For instance, the reflexive pronoun for him is himself.

While keeping this in mind, take the following two interactive quizzes. Don't forget to comment about your score.

Dear Parents

Dear Parents,

The students have been introduced with their online English blog, which is basically a new platform for them to communicate and share their work and ideas. The students are also being encouraged to use the Internet in a helpful way that will enable them to search for Information related to their studies, and to learn about new things. Their homework also consists of googling specific topics that they have done in the class to give them a better understanding of the concepts. Their class blog is a page where they can ask queries; and write their creative writings based solely on their imagination. Also, the presentations and videos they view in class (mostly on daily basis) are also available on their blog to download and revise at home. Reading about each student’s creative writing helps me to understand that in what area each student needs to pay more attention. Understanding their needs, I upload links to online quizzes which are very attractive and interesting and which the students can take at home and improve themselves in that particular area. In addition to this, links to download different presentations aside from those discussed in class are also uploaded for them to download and study at home.
On their blog, the students can read their class fellows creative writings; this will encourage and motivate them to write the best they can. After their first semester and after the students have become more used to using their blog and uploading their writings, they will be introduced to more advancer levels of blogging, where they will be able to read and share their writings with different students of the world connected to specific blogs and of their level. This will greatly boost their morale to write with their utmost ability and bring forward wondrous ideas from their imagination. The main purpose of this blog is to improve and enhance the communication skills of the students with the help of electronic media and to help them incorporate technology in their studies. The importance of electronic media in today’s day and age cannot be ignored, so the sooner the students are familiarized with it, the better it will be for them.
I highly rely on your support in attempt to carry out this initiative in the best way possible. Parent/Guardian guidance is very important while the students use their blog and surf the Internet to search for Information.

Please note that I administrate the blog and I make sure that it is used in the best possible way by the students.

Feel free to bring forward any new suggestion or query.

Thank you!

Class teacher,
Ms. Arooj Iqbal

Why Blog?
Blogging in the classroom setting moves students beyond commentaries on life, entertainment, and other social ideas. It allows them to gain a deeper understanding of content they are learning as they actually synthesize the information. Students love the opportunity to express themselves and blogging allows them to do just that. Beyond the communication advantages though, allowing student blogging provides a variety of other benefits as well, such as:

Generating Dialogue
Students often have a difficult time sharing ideas and information relevant to their topics. Through blogging, they have the opportunity to process and think about each of their comments, allowing for deeper and richer conversations and debates.

Creating Ownership and Enthusiasm
While not every student will enjoy blogging, many will simply because it is a way to showcase their work in a format that is ‘theirs’. Because it combines technology and writing, many students become more excited about the idea of moving through the writing process.

Connecting Students

Through discourse and debate, students have more of an opportunity to share their opinions within their blogs. While some students may be extremely quiet in class, they may be more likely to comment on a blog.
